Snap Action Switches for Automation Applications

Snap action switches, also called micro switches, are devices that can open and/or close an electrical circuit at a rapid speed. This fast transfer of contacts from one position to another makes snap action switches useful in situations where a rapid opening or closing of a circuit is necessary, such as a mouse clicker or appliance button.

The demand for snap action switches is increasing due to the growth of the automation market, the popularity of IoT devices and the soaring need for reliable and durable switches in electronic products.

The use of snap action switches spans the appliance, transportation, medical, industrial, construction and telecommunication markets. However, industrial automation is predicted to be the highest growing market segment for snap action use due to the need for affordable solutions for cloud computing, mobile devices, IoT and the expansion of the IT sector. This switch type increasingly supports connected devices with remote monitoring and control.

Across these markets and their respective applications, snap action switches are favored for their space-efficient, high-density designs, electrical performance and the improvement of service life for harsh and high-frequency use. Accordingly, here are five popular snap action switch options from E-Switch, including our recently released LS25 Series.
