Modern Small Airplane Standing In Hangar

A Home-Built Airplane featuring the PVA6 Series Illuminated Anti-vandal Switch

When many people think of airplanes, the first purpose that comes to mind is transportation. After all, airplanes give us the ability to travel far across the world in a matter of hours. Others associate with airplanes with the military. However, there is a third reason why someone might want an airplane: recreation. This is where small home-built airplanes come in.

One of E-Switch’s customers is an Oregon-based home-built airplane company. This company was founded in the 1970s. Over five decades, it has grown from its humble roots to a manufacturer that has sent out over 10,000 completed airplane kits in over 40 countries. The company continues to offer its flagship plane, but they have innovated through the decades and now offer eight unique aircraft.

In the early 2000s, the company introduced its largest aircraft. This plane features four full sized seats (prior to its introduction, the company only offered two seat airplanes). In addition to passengers, it allows for up to 100 pounds of cargo without compromising its maximum speed of over 200 miles per hour. In the nearly two decades since its introduction, the company has sent out close to 1,000 kits for this aircraft.

The customer needed to incorporate a reliable anti-vandal switch into the airplane’s design. They chose E-Switch’s PVA6 series.

The PVA6 Series illuminated anti-vandal switch offers a long life expectancy, water resistance to IP67 ratings, and ring or power symbol illumination.  This switch has a 16mm panel cutout size. Additional options include a high, high flat, or rounded bezel option and your choice of a solder lug or wire lead termination. The wire lead termination option is 500mm long.
